"Picture The Pool" open evening including art competition, Mon 1st Sept 5 - 7pm An exciting event organised by the 'Friends of Portishead Open Air Pool' There will be a human circle of support around the pool, so every 'body' will count! We have celebrity support in actor Norman Bowler, well known for his role in Softly Softly in the 60's and more recently of Emmerdale fame in his part of Frank Tate. He will be there to judge the children's art competition. Children are being asked to draw or paint a picture of the open air pool with the winning picture to be used for the cover of a planned community history booklet of Portishead Open Air Pool. Click here for details
|
"Picture The Pool" View the history of the pool through local photos. If you have any photos or memories you would like to share we would love to add them to the collection for the open evening.

Flower Show & Country Fair 2008 |
Portishead in Bloom and Pegasus Homes September 18th is the date for which Portishead in Bloom has been patiently waiting. That is when the results of the South West in Bloom judging will be announced at a special event in Plymouth. For the past few years the town has won a silver gilt medal awarded by the Royal Horticultural Society - maybe this year it will be one better. September is also the month when nominations are wanted for this year's John Daws Pegasus Cup. The cup is awarded, together with £100, to any person or organisation that has helped to raise the prestige of the town. It is run jointly by Portishead in Bloom and Pegasus Homes. Previous winners have been John and Edwina Tovey for their work with the Flower Show, and the Christmas Lights Committee. Nominations should be made by the end of September to the Folk Hall. More information can be obtained from Gordon Randall on 01275 848205.
